A Unique Perspective on Dispute Resolution

Brhan Ahmed founded Adala Dispute Resolution to provide thoughtful, efficient, and culturally informed mediation and arbitration services to parties facing complex disputes.

Born and raised in California’s Central Valley, Brhan is a Yemeni-American attorney whose personal and professional experiences have shaped his approach to conflict resolution. After attending Georgetown University and earning his law degree from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, he developed substantial experience handling sophisticated disputes and working with accomplished attorneys, businesses, and other stakeholders.

Brhan’s perspective has also been informed by his travels throughout the Middle East and his interactions with individuals, families, professionals, and businesspeople across the region. These experiences have given him an appreciation for the ways culture, family relationships, reputation, trust, and communication styles can influence a dispute.

For parties from Middle Eastern or South Asian backgrounds in particular, these considerations can be especially important. A disagreement may involve more than the language of a contract or the legal claims presented. It may also involve religious and cultural implications, longstanding relationships, different expectations regarding negotiation, concerns about dignity and reputation, or differing approaches to business and decision-making.

As a Yemeni-American, Brhan understands that effective dispute resolution requires more than simply identifying which side has the stronger argument. It requires listening carefully, understanding the interests and concerns underlying each party’s position, and recognizing the personal, cultural, and commercial considerations that may affect the path toward resolution.

Through Adala Dispute Resolution, Brhan seeks to provide a process in which every party is treated with dignity, heard with care, and given a meaningful opportunity to resolve the dispute. His goal is to help parties move beyond entrenched positions and toward practical, fair, and lasting outcomes.
